Description

The dongle usually can work on most new car with OBD2 16pin Aadapter and 12V engine since it is compatible with 12V 16 Pin vehicles. In general, OBD2 is used as a general term and can mean any of the following:

1. OBD II (California ARB)

2. EOBD (European OBD)

3. JOBD (Japanese OBD)

For details, check The supported protocols section. Depending on which protocol, the retrieved data might be less or more. For the sake of users, it reads diagnostic trouble codes, both generic and manufacturer-specific, and display their meaning (over 3000 generic code definitions in the database).

- ELM327 Will work with 12 V gasoline and diesel vehicles . Not support 24 v diesel /trucks.

- No wires or batteries (adapter is powered by the 12V Vehicles battery).

- 30 Minutes without communication, it will automatically go to sleep mode.

- The adapter uses the fast communication mode and most reliable PIC18F25K80 chips, up to 30PID/S.

- True ON-OFF button, you can press button to turn off the elm if not in use.

The original Konnwei will have the PIC18F25K80 chip with 16 legs.

The clone version may have different microchip. See the red highlight in the below image. It has a 14 leg chip which is something else.

NB: The red highlights are not supported in ELM327 V2.1 but V1.5.
